The End of the Weekend

The past few days have been pretty great for me.

Friday I got off work at noon and then met with the bestest girl ever, Katie Martin. The we went to an art gallery and off to lunch at Oregano's. We ate our weight in pasta I swear. We ended our very fun day by shopping at Ulta and then buying matching jackets. She got red and I bought black. We are matchy like that :) Brian also added last minutes going out to a bar to celebrate a friends 21st birthday. We had lots of fun at that bar but we decided we need to find somewhere a little more... quiet. Not to sound old but if I can't hear the person at the other end of the table it's just too loud.

Saturday was busy! It started out at ASU for my mother-in-laws walk for life. Then we had to go because Brian's sister's band thing got rescheduled and so it conflicted with Achilles' training. Well we came home and just relaxed then took Achilles to training. We rushed home then headed out to the Farmer's Market here in town and got some strawberries. It was great. We also got some flowers and a watermelon. I'm really excited to try the watermelon. We ate the strawberries last night and they were so scrumptious. The night ended just about like last night with us at a bar. We went to Big Bang bar, which for those who don't know it a dueling piano bar. It was SO loud and had 0 seats. Most of the group was already there so we just left and told them let us know when you leave. So we went to Robbie Fox's which is one of the best Irish Pubs ever. We had some drinks, I found out I like a Long Beach. Then we were done so we went walking. Walking really is great at mill during the night. This really awesome artist was selling his stuff so we got painting. Deciding that 10 at night was good for us and we weren't really in the mood to wait around for the rest of the group (who by the way left Big Bang and decided to go to Macayo's when we told them to come to Robbie Fox's which was better). We stopped at the light rail station to leave when they walked by and wanted to go to a different Irish Pub. It blew! The group there were all Scottsdale douches and it was loud and young. I can't imagine a worse way to hang out. We left not long after we got there.

Today is now Sunday. Brian and I slept in and then had biscuits and jam for breakfast. We've watched a movie and now are sitting here watching football. But I think I've ranted enough for one night it's time to make my grocery list.

First Day of School

It seems like everyone is going back to school! Jaxon started preschool this last week. He actually went for a few months last school year but this is his first "first day of schoool" experience. Everyone has asked how he's doing and it's kind of funny. The question almost seems odd to me. He LOVES school. He gets to go outside of the house for 2 hours, 3 days a week and see his friends and play with his teachers. Yes, I understand it's school and he's learning, but at preschool age it's a lot of fun for him. Here's some fun photos from his first day. How cute is he with his little backpack? They had this adorable little photo booth for kids on their first day. I tried to get him to pose so I could read the sign. Of course the sign turned into a bird. What can I do. I tried. Jaxon posed with his teacher. She's so sweet, it's her first year teaching and she reminds me of gum drops and rainbows and puppy dog tails. Everythi...

2 Year Anniversary

May 15th is our anniversary. For out two year anniversary we went to the Grand Canyon. It really couldn't have been greater. Here are some of the pictures from this past weekend. This was our cabin and the view from our window We learned how to lasso and saw tadpoles Relaxed and enjoyed the view I do have some travel tips for you. If a place if called "Out of this World", you really should stop and try their food. Eat a burger, take a picture, order a cake (try to be better than me and snap a picture before you scarf it down), also, order a pizza to take back to your room. It'll be worth it. Trust me.

Pake

When did life change so much? One kid become two? Stay at mom become stay at mom and worker? Errands become errands and more errands because they are never finished? Seven become seven and eleven? Wait... I may have gotten a little off track with that last one. Life is always so crazy it seems that one you finally get used to it, something changes. That's what pake is. Something you're not used to but it can totally work. A pake: half pie, half cake. Don't worry, we're not talking apple pie with frosting. It's a pie crust with red velvet cake and cream cheese frosting. Now this is a learning lesson. The original recipe I used is from  Lifetime . It was originally made on a show called "Drop Dead Diva". Total chic show but it was fun. The only thing it that whatever world they cook in, cakes rise several inches. Here in the normal world? Not so much. I've modified the recipe slightly below. Ingredients: Pie Crust - Either make your own or ...
