Week 2

So this is the second week in a row of my New Year's resolution. Before I talk about this weeks meal, I have to give some story.

I'm assuming most people have seen the movie Julie and Julia. Now she made several recipes a day. Let's take a moment and think about this. She got off work at 5, I'm assuming here that she's like most of us working adults, and then cook, which would take a few hours to prep and cook. That puts her eating at most likely 9. Now she has to clean everything, which puts her going to bed around 11. She still has to wake up the next morning for work. This was my kitchen after 2 recipes, and only one side at that.

Now imagine doing that everyday. How dirty would the kitchen be? Her kitchen would never ever be clean. I don't think it's very feasible to make a new meal everyday for a year. I actually think it's not possible... at least not possible to be sane while doing this.

So I made a potato pie for dinner and an apple tart for dessert. I decided to start taking more pictures during the process. I had to cook a leak for the potato pie. Have you ever even heard of a leak? Well for those of you who haven't a cut up leak looks like green onion.

Now once I put the whole thing together I stepped back and wanted to see how appetizing it looked... Let's be honest everyone. It looks terrible.

However, once it's cooked, it looks pretty good and it tasted pretty awesome.

Now for the apple tart. I'll just go ahead and give you final product so you don't get too hungry

TTFN!

2 Year Anniversary

May 15th is our anniversary. For out two year anniversary we went to the Grand Canyon. It really couldn't have been greater. Here are some of the pictures from this past weekend. This was our cabin and the view from our window We learned how to lasso and saw tadpoles Relaxed and enjoyed the view I do have some travel tips for you. If a place if called "Out of this World", you really should stop and try their food. Eat a burger, take a picture, order a cake (try to be better than me and snap a picture before you scarf it down), also, order a pizza to take back to your room. It'll be worth it. Trust me.

First Day of School

It seems like everyone is going back to school! Jaxon started preschool this last week. He actually went for a few months last school year but this is his first "first day of schoool" experience. Everyone has asked how he's doing and it's kind of funny. The question almost seems odd to me. He LOVES school. He gets to go outside of the house for 2 hours, 3 days a week and see his friends and play with his teachers. Yes, I understand it's school and he's learning, but at preschool age it's a lot of fun for him. Here's some fun photos from his first day. How cute is he with his little backpack? They had this adorable little photo booth for kids on their first day. I tried to get him to pose so I could read the sign. Of course the sign turned into a bird. What can I do. I tried. Jaxon posed with his teacher. She's so sweet, it's her first year teaching and she reminds me of gum drops and rainbows and puppy dog tails. Everythi...

Pake

When did life change so much? One kid become two? Stay at mom become stay at mom and worker? Errands become errands and more errands because they are never finished? Seven become seven and eleven? Wait... I may have gotten a little off track with that last one. Life is always so crazy it seems that one you finally get used to it, something changes. That's what pake is. Something you're not used to but it can totally work. A pake: half pie, half cake. Don't worry, we're not talking apple pie with frosting. It's a pie crust with red velvet cake and cream cheese frosting. Now this is a learning lesson. The original recipe I used is from  Lifetime . It was originally made on a show called "Drop Dead Diva". Total chic show but it was fun. The only thing it that whatever world they cook in, cakes rise several inches. Here in the normal world? Not so much. I've modified the recipe slightly below. Ingredients: Pie Crust - Either make your own or ...
